First Campaign Overview |
There are 5 missions in the first (and currently only
available) campaign. This campaign takes
place in map as shown on the right. You are part of the (apparent) good guys
named the Royal Legion (will learn more about all this in postings for the
later missions). In this campaign, you
are a new pilot named Atlas for the Helios Squadron which is part of the Legion’s Royal Air
Force.
Mission
1: Hunt for the Dominus:
In this mission, the Markovians are rebelling against the
legion and have apparently captured one of the legions nuclear carriers, the
L.S. Dominus (OMG!). Your squadron is
searching to find this hijacked carrier but before you get very far, you get
waylaid by those pesky rebels.
Mission 1 Overview |
Your name is Atlas and you fly with 2 other (computer
controlled) pilots, Commander Vargas (a spicy yet compassionate female commander) and Copperhead
(some fella with a bit of a twang and attitude, sounds a bit Boston).
You can also get an additional wingman if you’d like, but it is optional
and I would recommend that you skip that step so that you can use your one
wingman for another mission. (Missions 1
& 2 don’t require wingmen).
Mission takes place 500km off
Port Crescent
(the center of the rebel resistance), in the midst of the Iron Sea.
As this is the first mission, Z2Live decided to take it easy
on us and make this a pretty simple and easy mission. The mission
starts out, as mentioned, with a squadron of rebels viciously conducting a
surprise attack against you. Actually
they are flying very slowly at you (much slower than any real game of
MetalStorm). They are approaching you so
slowly that with any amount of skill, you should be able to take them all out
before any get past you. Don’t worry
about any missiles that they may shoot at you – this seems to be a pretty
neutered lot and their missiles don’t seem to have any punch at all. As a bonus, you seem to be able to take them out with one missile shot. Once
you obliterate these poor souls, pat yourself on the back as you’ve just
completed the first half of the mission.
Phase 1 of First Mission - shooting ducks in a barrel |
Copperhead, who is a sharp cracker, makes the funniest
comment of the mission “Damn those guys were ready for a fight!” Gee, they looked like they were flying
pedal-powered gliders to me. He also notes that it
looks like those damn rebels were attacking you with Legion planes, no less!
Behind the (now dead) fleet of rebel planes lies a fleet of
3 rebel destroyers that are now unprotected.
This will be your first encounter fighting against ships. As you approach them a spectacular barrage of
tracer fire is directed at you (well done Z2Live), but don’t worry, being that
this is the first mission, they seem to be shooting marshmallows at you. As you approach, you simply shoot missiles
and cannon fire at each ship until they blow up in a blinding yellow
fireball.
The main tip for fighting against ships is to try and lock
on to the center tower of the ship – damage to the center tower will cause
the ship to explode much quicker than other locations. I usually keep barraging the center tower
with missiles and add cannon fire in parallel which helps accelerate their
demise. I have not found any other
vulnerabilities with the ships and am curious if anyone else has.
Mission 1 Phase 2 - Aim for the ships center tower for quicker kills! |
Once you destroy all 3 ships, you have completed the mission
and will be rewarded with credits, missiles and cannon ammo – good job Atlas!
(ok, nobody really cares that you are named Atlas).
Reap your Mission 1 rewards - The bonuses are easy as long as you are a quick shooter! |
Doesnt it on this mission that we can unlock the Bizz Tower achievement?
ReplyDeleteVini_Paschoal
Vini, that is a very good question. I have most of the badges but do not have that one. Does anyone know what you have to do to get the Buzz the Tower achievement??
ReplyDeleteTry to fly close to a ship center tower like the movie Top Gun.
Deletein mission 3 you have to buzz the tower on the Dominus.
DeleteStay very clos to the landing strip of ur ship but near the tower
Delete.:Arman92:.
Fly on the left side of the aircraft carrier and you will get the badge!
DeleteAlex Chang that's exactly what I did. I wasn't even trying! Just don't hit the ship. Going to the right won't work.
DeleteYou have to fly close to your own carrier center tower to get this unlocked. It worked for me. In this mission. ;)
ReplyDeleteHyperion
i got buzz the tower achievement when i pretended to take off from the carrier in this mission
ReplyDeleteHow do you get "the goodnhunt acheivement" it says to completeball 3 goals in the hunt for the dominos in one try while there are only 2 goals in mission 1 (the planes then the ships)
ReplyDeletethe three objectives
Deletei ussually take out all the guns on the ships, that way u get more xp
ReplyDeleteGuys i dont seem to have a campaign mode on my iPod touch, its really sad :( any help?
ReplyDeleteiPod 1g and 2g don't have Campaign.
DeleteSorry if you have one of them.
Buzz the tower is not in mission 3 but in mission 1!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteWhere do i find campaign mode?
ReplyDeleteWhat is your device?Did you update your game?
Deleteso easy. one weakness of the ships is the back end. it's really hard to lock on (impossible) but try firing cannons and the ship will sink with 4 missiles if you get it on the back.
ReplyDeletethis so easy.
ReplyDeleteyep it is the easiest mission out of all five
DeleteThe wingmen become free after a few uses, still need to refuel though.
ReplyDeleteI know one weakness-the missles. If you wipe out the missle launchers early than the destroyers are alost defecless.
