Sky Demon - Stealth Bomber with a paint job

Sky Demon

Alas - I did not scroll all the way to the bottom of the plane list last night to find this little sucker nestled down there.  A new plane is now available once you reach level 50, the Sky Demon has arrived! Modeled after the beautiful lines of the B-2 Stealth Bomber.

Specs:
Damage: 13%:  4th in class, in the middle of the pack.  Tops is Sentinel at 17%
Agility: 14%  Tied for First in Class with Cyclops
Speed:  A whopping18% makes this First in Class by far  (but still slower than agility class planes)
Evasion: 12%  is 2nd in class behind Cyclops.

Similar to the Sparrow, the Sky Demon is a weapons class plane taking on agility class boosts in agility, speed and evasion. The agility is nice, the damage is ok, the speed is good and the evasion is good. I'm still not real sure what kind of fight you would wage with these "hybrids".  Weapons class planes are typically best a slugging it out at long range.  Agility class planes are typically best in close engagements.  I guess that this gives you a little of both, but not the best of either.  Curious what you all think on this topic!

The Sky Demon has been added to the Comparison Guide  and also to the Fleet at a Glance - check it out!

  2. I would love to get this plane but I'm at like level 46
And to top that off I burned 4 of my fingers so no chance of getting this plane anytime soon

  3. Looks like the best weapons plane IMO but I don't understand how Z2 could justify the archilies at 390 coins and this for nearly half the price and it's even better.

    1. You can't compare a Weapons class aircraft with a Defense one. Achilles' (and defense planes generally) armor and energy makes up for its lack of Agility while Sky Demon's 3 Agility class stats makes up for its lower armor and resistence (lower than Achilles).

  4. not that great needs missile reload...

    1. Berore I had this opinion too, but then I saw Yebisu's video on Youtube about it and I saw that 10% missile reload gives you only a quite little edge. In mid range engadgements you can't fire nor one more missile...

    1. no problem... buy boost 9% missile reload

    2. I think +10% boost in missile reload ISN'T the same as +10% missile reload in plane bonus stats.

    3. Of course, considering weapons classes get an additional 36% from the upgrades

  6. If the Firefly ever comes out, id better have decent stats...
    I want:

    Agility +15%
    Energy +16%
    Damage +10%
    Armor +10%

    Now that's a Hybrid...

  7. Nah Firefly should have
    +14 Agility
    +10 energy
    +15 Speed
    +12 Stealth

    1. Well, I think the stats really matter depending on your style of play. For me, a very agile plane with lots of energy and armor and damage boosts would enable me to take on anyone...

Stealth in an agility plane?? That's new...

Personally, I could care less about speed. I dont need extra speed to dodge bisnovats, I use energy and Top speed available in the base stats to evade bisnovats.

FYI: my SR is around 7700.

    2. All of you are so pitiful!!!
wanting this and that stats for your plane.
this is the main reason I switched to SGAS, the planes are the same no matter what, all that matters is the skill of the pilot.

    3. Main thing I don't like about SGAS is that it crashes often, and the controls are bulky. And we were just contemplating on what the ideal plane would be for each of us. This should help In makIng future decisions on plane purchases. There's nothing pitiful about thinking and contemplating. I could switch to SGAS any day, but I choose to stay with Z2 a little longer, before they destroy the game with astronomical stats...

  8. This is one heck of a good hybrid IMO.
It's the first in its class to have both agility and speed bonus and that becomes lethal if used correctly.
As the stats tell, this plane is great for dogfighting and it isn't the best for those who snipe or do 24/7 backflip with coin missiles.
It feels like flying an agility plane because of how easy it is to dodge coin missiles with this plane.
I do miss the missile reload and crit strike from my RW sometimes, but the speed +evasion +agility makes up for it.
    Love the design too.
I'm lovin' it (bada pappa pa~)

  9. Weapons class with:

    +12% damage
    +15% speed
    +12% agility
    +10% armor regeneration

Now THAT's a Hybrid... but probably an "unfair" one due to regen. =P.

But it would be great in survival, campaign, and versus don't you think? lol

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. It will have the more armour regeneration than the F-105 Dragon. It will be an extremely unfair plane, due to it's manoeuvrability and armour regeneration. It was unintelligent of you to make such a plane. That is not a hybrid, but it is the game destroyer. If it was ever going to be made, it should be banned from versus, only for survival and campaign.

    2. Dude chill.
Someone even wrote a plane should have +999999% whatever stats and just because someone said it doesn't mean it's going to happen.
U just saw it as a possibility, and it's not my problem for you to hate the game if they do make it.
And I did quote "unfair" in the first place, thanks.

    3. if z2 want to destroy metalstorm one day...then, this type of plane may appear...

    2. I have both and love them both equally.
You can dodge coin missiles more easily and get more clearer shot opportunities with Sky Demon thanks to agility+speed+evasion bonus, but RW will still have higher damaging ability thanks to its damage+missile reload+crit strike bonus.
In the right hands, they're both really lethal IMO.

      Delete
    3. red widow gives more damage, and that is what i value in weapons class

      Delete
    4. rw is too weak if comparing with SD!!

      Delete
    5. Why everyone keeps comparing this aircraft with RW? Warlock is almost its upgrade!
@ pd: 1% damage isn't a big difference, way better to have 4% more agility, 12% more evasion and 18% more speed instead of 5% more chance of critical strike and missile reload (with SD you can finish long range engadgement in very little time with its speed). If you can fly Agility planes you can dodge anything they throw at you with this plane and destroy your opponent in close engadgement (if he doesn't fly an Agility class aircraft).

      Delete
  12. Its not it needs missile reload, and the red widow looks better. To bad i spent 367 blue coins to fully upgrade it...

    1. Are u a girl? because thats the look of the RW haha.. 10% missile reload is nothing, not even a 1 sec faster so fuk that...

      Delete
    2. Are u a girl? Because one second of missile reload is worth a lot combined with the upgrades. It's like saying +14 agility is useless.

      Delete
    3. Don't need to urgue! SD is the king of MSW planes. No other planes can compare with it.

      Delete
    4. Lol Red Widow's missile reload is nowhere near a second faster than other Weapons class planes. 10% Missile Reload is pretty close to nothing; a pair of extra shots in an extended long range approach at best, with both you and your opponent hitting the brakes.

All weapons class planes get a big missile reload upgrade from the tech tree that makes the 10% extra insignificant. The numbers lie.

      Delete
    5. To 2nd Anonymus:
Are you stupid? I said not even 1 sec faster of missile reload so fuck you idiot!
      You are useless

      Delete
    6. Totally agree with the 3rd and 4th Anonymous

    7. Extra stats on planes would make a difference only on the long run.
For example, I've been a long time Hawken pilot and found that in the long run, I had better kill rate with RW thanks to the 5% extra critical rate.
Today, I switched to SD and I can now add various flying style thanks to the speed. However, I'm getting less kill rate because it doesn't crit as much as RW.
That's just my observation, but the greatest difference would depend on which plane class you use and the flying skill you have.
I mean if you back flip 24/7, the 10% reload might be useless and would want a plane with speed and lock speed like Liberty.
If you dogfight well, agility, evasion, speed, damage would be much more appreciated.

    1. But the warlock is so ugly...

      Delete
    2. Warlock isn't ugly. You just don't like its design, so say things as they really are. By the way to answer the question: Forget the Red Widow, when there is the Warlock which is better and costs less. Anyway Sky Demon is even better than Warlock so go for it or just wait for Z2Live to make a plane which performs better as they always do...

  15. If you want to do the 3oclock and 9 o'clock trick then use RW so you can see your opponent so you can see it and do the non lock shot. It's gonna be very difficult with Sky Demon because it's big and blocks the view to see ur opponent. Also when you fly Sky Demon you are an easy non lock shot target bicause you're so big.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Sky Demon must be 50 centimeters high (lol) and you "see" it from its back. "see" because you almost don't see it even when you break. Did you see this beast in action to state this?

      Delete
  16. Is it just me or is 10% extra missile reload BARELY any extra missiles in most situations? I seem to generally fire the same amount on my RW as my other Weapons class planes. Maybe ever so slightly faster between shots but never really enough to shoot extra missiles.

I think SD is hands down better than all other current Weapons class planes. It may not have extra range or faster reload but it does have the speed to pretty much nullify that advantage if your opponent has those bonuses. It's a lot more manoeuverable than the regular weapons class plane too. Defense class planes in particular are no match for this plane.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Faced the Sky Demon a few times now, really good plane, but it didn't seem so agile, and neither could it hit me enough times or cause enough damage to my Red Widow. Won around 3-1 on most matches with RAAM missiles on my RW.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Probably wasn't a very good pilot or you're very skilled with the RW. I've faced the Sky Demon three times now each with their SR over 40k and mine is only 15k and each time we drew 0-0. I was in my reaper and found that the demon maneuvered very well and was very difficult to hit. I fly with standard weapons though so usually it leaves no room for error when your flying against lancers. Too bad I'm only at level 46 otherwise I would buy the beast and could see how it handles for myself. Until then, I can only judge how well I match up against it.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Hmm......how much does the sky demon cost?

  20. Naaaa the size of the plane model doesn´t matters. The hit area is usually the same for all planes (characters in fps games)

  22. Seems everyone is buying that plane...
But I don't know how they can get to level 50 that fast!!!!

Even though... this is the record for my recent matches...

7000 SR Sky demon with Bisnovat- died 3-0 under my Wraith with standard
15000 SR Sky demon with Bisnovat - died 2-0 under my Wraith with standard
27000 SR Sky demon with Lancer - died 2-1 under my Wraith with standard
32000 SR Sky demon with Lancer - died 1-0 under my Wraith with standard

Hmm... Looks like it's not that horrifying :P

    3. Skills always comes on top... But then again those who has lag in their favor could come on top ;p. I mean when I just got into this game, I thought those twirling players were hackers. But now I know they were just back-flipping 24/7 and now I could beat them fine, but still it pisses me off >(.

You have to have luck on your side too.
And may be talent if I might add...

So Sporillium, in your opinion, what would be needed to come out on top?
(Excluding the fact that hackers can too come out on top)

  27. It's a very unique plane.
I think it's first in its class to combine the best agility class characteristics (agility, speed, evasion).
At least I haven't seen any other weapons class with agility + speed which changed my flying style a bit.
