Ice Wolf: prize winning canine or mutt?

M-53 Ice Wolf

We have another weapons class plane - as ugly as the tempest but with better stats.  Stats are as follows:
Missile Tracking:  3rd in class behind Liberty & Helix (tied for 1st) and Tigris (2nd)
Damage:  Tied for 3rd in class
Energy:  BEST IN CLASS and only weapons class plane to add energy
Speed:  BEST IN CLASS tied with Liberty and Tigris

So what can you say about the stats?  Best in class for energy and speed - is that valuable?  its ok, but not too thrilling.  Missile tracking and damage are decent but 3rd in class is nothing to write home about.

As for the price - Z2, what are you thinking?  Is 300+ coins the new standard price? I have no idea why they think that this is worth 300 coins - maybe they see a demand from our Russian friends for this plane?  not sure...

In general, I see this as just another generic plane and hard to get too excited about it - the lack of any agility boost is a setback in my opinion for the close engagements and no missile reload boosts hurts this plane for the long distance engagements.  Pretty mediocre plane from my point of view, but lets hear from you and your opinion!

Blackbird Released

R-94 Achilles

As we saw in the Saudi leaks, the SR-71 Blackbird has finally arrived to MSWM as the R-94 Achilles.  Many have been looking forward to seeing this plane arrive in the game.  Interestingly, the plane has been added as a defense class addition.

Beautiful shot of a real-life SR-71 Blackbird
In real life, the Blackbird was one of the most amazing planes ever built.  A reconnaissance plane with no weapons, it was one of the fastest plane ever made.  Able to go mach 3+ at 80,000 feet, it was able to go so fast and so high that no missiles could catch it.  For quite awhile, the Blackbird was able to fly just about anywhere it wanted without fear of getting shot down.

Stats:
Stealth:  2nd in class to the Nightwing
Damage:  BEST IN CLASS (better than most agility class planes)
Speed:  BEST IN CLASS.  This is the first defense class plane to add a speed boost.
Evasion:  2nd in class to the green eagle

Even with the boost, the speed of the Achilles is really quite slow, as with most defense class planes. It is a bit of a shame that Z2 has chosen to make on of the fastest planes ever built as a defense class turtle that will get easily out raced by any agility class planes and also a few weapons class planes.  True, in real life it was not maneuverable like an agility class plane, but it just seems to be a waste to dump one of the coolest planes ever built into the lack luster defense class.

Another shot of the speed demon
As for the price - Z2 has set a new ceiling - this will be the most expensive coin plane ever released at 390 coins.  No doubt it looks cool, but with the stats being offered, it just doesn't seem even close to being worth it to me.

Glad to see it added, but wish it could have been added with a little more flare!  Why not make it the fastest but with no agility?  It would actually have needed +57% to make it the fastest in fleet and keep it as defense class - that might have been interesting!

Version 4.1.2 released

Version 4.1.2 has been released.  The explanation of what is new is pretty sparse.  The level up fix is pretty minor.  Multiple bug fixes and improvements - wow, that is pretty descriptive Z2 - could ya not have taken a minute and listed a few of these fixes and improvements for the community?  Lets hear from you all - what do you think of it?
